Duncan Mighty is a Nigerian artist who fuses style into culture and language as he sings in his Ikwere dialect. He is popularly called Wene Mighty (Wene being a name he got from his father).


Wene Mighty was born in Obio-Akpor, Rivers State on October 28th, 1983 to Mr Okechukwu. He is the only child and son of his parents. He had a difficult upbringing owing to the poor state of his parents and the fact that his mother had constant bleeding for 18 years. He attended several schools due to his mother’s illness and so whenever the mother was transferred to another hospital he went with her.


He played the drum and was the music director in the choir in his church but in 2000 he went to the Gold and Toast show as a drummer for a competitor who did not win, it was at this competition that Wene Mighty met a man Wale a sound instructor at Benson and Hedges who had interest in him and so invited Duncan Mighty to Lagos and in July 2011 Wene went to Lagos and started work as a drummer at Benson and Hedges. During his course as a worker an opportunity came up for people to be trained as Audio Engineers and so he was admitted into the University of Lagos. but before leaving for Lagos he worked in a construction company and had enrolled as a student of Civil Engineering but dropped out in the 3rd year to concentrate on his music career. He started Audio Engineering with Emeka Ogbo at Benson and Hedges but was opportuned to be trained by a team of 4 Germans then got a in Acoustics. He worked at Dolphin studious for his IT, there he got the opportunity to work with different Icons like Chris Aire, Danjigi, Nelson Brand. Wene went study PARIS (Professional Audio Recording Intergrated System) became a professional Analogue Engineer then went back to work at Dolphin Studios as a Field Engineer he had also worked for Cobhams Asuquo and Rugged Man.

In 2005 he went back to Port Harcourt as a result of his father’s sickness and he lost his father in 2007.


In 2008 he released his Ist album Koliwater which was a 22-track album with popular songs like "Ijeoma", "Scatter My Dada", "Ako Na Uche".

In 2010 his 2nd Album Ahamefuna (Legacy) was released, this album was produced by Duncan Mighty with no guest appearances and it was received well all over the world.

In September 2012, Wene Mighty released Footprints, an 18-track album with guest appearances like Timaya, Shaggy, Otuu Sax, Sandaz Black and Wande Coal. 

In 2014, Wene Mighty released his fourth studio album Grace & Talent through his own imprint Young Wealth Records. The album included contributions from Phyno, Young Stunna, Tick Lips and J Flex.

On 25 July 2015, Duncan Mighty got married to his fiancée Vivien and after 4 months they welcomed their first son Iruchi who he fondly calls Icon Mighty.


In 2011 he had issues with the former Governor of his state Gov Rotimi Amaechi over a supposed debt of ₦50 million which was to be a balance for a concert he helped the Governor organize.
