Eminent persons, including the Emir of Kano, Alhaji Ado Bayero, and the state governor, Rabiu Kwankwaso, Thursday attended a special prayer for sustainable peace and stability in Kano State and Nigeria.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), reported that the special prayer session, which was held at the Kano Central Mosque, was led by the Chief Imam of Kano, Prof. Sani Zaharaddeen.
The prayer, which was organised by the Kano State Government in collaboration with the Kano Emirate Council, was also attended by the state Deputy Governor, Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje and members of the state executive council.

The session witnessed the recitation of the Holy Qur’an, after which the Chief Imam prayed for peace, stability and the security of lives and property nationwide.
The cleric also prayed for the economic prosperity of the country.
In a remark, Kwankwaso said the special prayer was invoked to seek God’s intervention in the current security challenges in the country.

“The prayer session is also aimed at ensuring the sustenance of peace in Kano State and the country at large,” he said.
The governor prayed to God to bless the Emir with good health to enable him discharge his responsibilities more effectively.

NAN reported that others in attendance were the Emirs of Zurmi and Bakura in Zamfara, Alhaji Abubakar Atiku and Alhaji Bello Mohammed respectively, politicians, businessmen, Islamic scholars and traditional rulers from the 44 local government areas of the state.
The prayer was the third time similar session was organised in the state since after the multiple bomb attacks in Kano in January 2012.
