23rd June 2014

Sixty-four companies will be awarded certificates of membership by the Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) at an induction ceremony scheduled for Tuesday, June 24, 2014, at the LCCI Conference and Exhibition Centre, Alausa, Lagos.

Babatunde Ruwase, chairman, membership and welfare committee of the chamber, said companies were increasingly joining the chamber because of the advantages they would derive from membership, adding that on a regular basis, members met with trade delegations from abroad to strike up partnerships or consummate juicy business deals.

Interested members, especially manufacturers, also take advantage of the chamber’s regular trade missions to exhibitions abroad. Countries visited within the past one year include China, USA, Turkey, UK, and Germany. New members are admitted into the chamber every quarter while reception ceremonies are held for them twice a year, he said.

LCCI is the leading chamber of commerce in the West African sub-region. Part of its advocacy roles is ensuring a conducive business environment for its members in particular and the Nigerian business community in general. Many business organisations operating in Lagos and even beyond, are registered members of the chamber whose flagship is the Lagos International Trade Fair, which is held in November of every year. This year’s edition will take place fromNovember 7 – 16, at the Tafawa Balewa Square, Lagos, with the theme “Promoting the Nigerian Economy as a Preferred Investment Destination, ” according to a statement from the chamber.
