She emerged one of the top 10 finalists in the pageant. The host of MNET Face of Africa ceremony and Nigeria Music Video Awards, both in 2010, she was nominated for the Exquisite Lady Of The Year Awards in 2009 and 2010. She tells GERALDINE AKUTU what fashion and style mean to her.

Your definition of fashion

It’s a statement that everybody makes; especially when out of the comfort zone and into limelight.

Uniqueness of your style

I try to be dynamic and change with the fashion seasons. I basically wear what I feel good in; and I’m good in bright colours.

Favourite colour and why

Everything looks better in Lilac, Pink and Silver because I’m very girly in those colours.

Your favourite fashion item

Shoes.

What makes you fulfilled?

Being able to use the airwaves to make positive impact in the society everyday of the week; and being able to help light up a smile on the faces of my family and friends.

Your most stylish icon?

Mary J Blige and Nicky Minaj for their hairstyles; Beyonce for make-up and accessories, Janelle Monae for suiting up and flat shoes to die for. And Kim Kardashan for every mini-dress she has ever worn.

Your major inspiration?

Strong women in the society -- who balance work and the home-front steady and are always elegant whenever you see them -- inspire me.

Your favourite relaxation spot?

Most definitely, The Life House on Sinari Daranijo, Victoria Island, Lagos. It is a lovely place really, where everybody wants to know your name and how you are doing. It has great food on the menu and it is the only place where you can buy Zobo in V.I.

How often do you change your wardrobe?

I mix and match with some new items once in a while. I believe it's more economical and sensible to re-use items you have in a creative way.

Likes and dislikes?

Insincerity, deceit and domestic/sexual abuse are major dislikes for me. I like forward thinking individuals who are unselfish and considerate. I also like good perfumes and wines.

Philosophy of life

Be good to others in this life because you never know where you will meet in future.

Views about Nigerian artistes

The Nigerian music industry has vastly changed the past five to 10 years though for the better. We have great talents in this country and the music industry has given so many what can now be called careers.

Major influence in broadcasting

Funmi Iyanda; she is an elegant and strong woman, who never disappoints with her programmes; Tyra Banks, who is spunky and speaks her mind. I also like Isha Sasay of CNN; she is an inspiration to me.

Message for those aspiring to go into radio broadcasting?

Have a strong spirit and be passionate. Prepare for a lot of crap from different angles, but let your faith and passion guide you. Create your own voice and never try to be someone else because you can’t do that 24 hours.
