E-payment processing group First Data is in the "final stage" of opening two datacenters in Brazil, the company said in a statement.

The facilities are being developed in partnership with IBM and are aimed principally, though not exclusively, at supporting the operations of Bin, First Data's newly launched credit and debit card acquiring solution tailored to the local market.

Both centers will be compatible with the global standards of PCI Security Standards Council. They will be located in IBM's Global Services Center in São Paulo state's interior.

The undisclosed investment also included the migration of the data processing center for the banking segment, which was previously located in Argentina, to Brazil.

"This is the company's first step towards becoming a reference in retail management in the country," First Data Brasil head Debbie Guerra said.

In January, First Data announced its arrival in the Brazilian card acquirer market through a partnership with Banco Cooperativo do Brasil (Bancoob).
