Argentina's cooperatives association (Aca-Bio) officially launched a US$130mn ethanol plant outside the city of Villa María, which will produce 125,000M3/y of biofuel.

The plant will process 380,000t/y of corn, according to a release from the Córdoba provincial government, with the majority coming from nearby producers.

A turbine powered by excess steam from the plant's operations powers the plant, which began operating in February.

The news follows a measure to increase the mandatory minimum mix of ethanol in gasoline to 10% from 5%.
